Student and landholder registration concession to attend QWS or QPAS
This subsidy aims to promote both interest and involvement of landholders and tertiary students in weeds, pest animals and weed and pest animal science/management in Queensland by assisting them to attend the biennial Queensland Weed Symposium (QWS) or the Queensland Pest Animal Symposium (QPAS). The subsidy provides for a discount on the registration for Weed Society Queensland symposia.
Eligibility
The award is open to both undergraduate and post-graduate students and landholders who are not engaged in a professional or salaried role in the weed or pest animal management or related natural resource management field. Students must be enrolled at an appropriate tertiary institution at the time of making a submission. Landholders must be engaged in weed or pest animal management. Applicants do not need to be members of WSQ to apply for the award but are required to take at minimum an annual membership to access the member/early bird registration rate.
Selection
Selection of candidates for registration concession will be administered by the organising committee of the relevant symposia. Applicants will be required to submit a short (300 word) outline of the relevance of their course of study or land management interests to the organising committee; and provide proof of enrolment in relevant course of tertiary study (if student).
Concession terms and conditions
The recommended concession provided will be a 25% discount on member/early bird registration and will number 10 for each event. The organising committee will make the final determination of the concession rate and number of concessions granted on an event by event basis.
