3rd October 2006.... This years WSQ Annual General Meeting will once again be held at the Lakeside Gardens Cafe at the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane on the 24th of November. The meeting will commence at 10:00am and all WSQ members are encouraged to attend. Following lunch there will be a brief and informative tour to look at some new and emerging weeds.
14th September 2006.... The Call for Papers and Earlybird Registration brochure for the 9th Queensland Weed Symposium is now available. The symposium will be held at the Holiday Inn, Surfers Paradise, on the Gold Coast from the 3rd to the 6th of June 2007. The deadline for the submission of abstracts for oral and poster presentations is Monday 30 October 2006. 23rd April 2006.... The 2006 Combined North East NSW-South East Queensland Weeds Forum is to be held on Wednesday the 10th of May at the Seagulls Club, Gollan Drive, in Tweed Heads. The single day forum will begin at 9:00am and "Solving Common Weed Problems" will be its theme. It will consist of a program packed with information and updates on weeds and weed management, from a local regional and national perspective, for a $35.00 registration fee. 8th February 2006..... CD's of the proceedings from the 8th Queensland Weed Symposium, satchels from the symposium, and the "Weeds of Southern Queensland" book are available for sale from WSQ. For more information contact Chris Love at love@dow.com.
5th February 2006..... Steve Csurhes, from the Queensland Department of Natural Resources and Mines, reported the naturalisation of thalia (Thalia geniculata) in Toowong in Brisbane in January. It has since also been found in other parts of Brisbane. More information about this emerging weed species will soon be posted in the "Weeds in Focus" section on this website.
30th September 2005.... During the 8th Queensland Weed Symposium in Townsville in June, the 1986 edition of the WSQ newsletter went missing from the display celebrating 30 years of the WSQ. The day will commence with a morning tea at 9:30am and the meeting will begin at 10:00am. All WSQ members are welcome and are encouraged to attend the meeting. Following lunch there will be a tour to look at some new and emerging weeds that are growing nearby.
