Membership

The Society welcomes all persons and organisations interested in weeds and pest animals and their management to become members.

The Society promotes management of weeds and pest animals through:

  • our newsletter ‘Weedshine’
  • grants, awards and scholarships
  • conferences & symposia
  • public relations and advocacy
  • field days and forums
  • publications and multi-media

Membership provides the opportunity to network with society members which include practitioners, policy makers, landholders, scientists and students. The Society has a range of grants and awards to further weed and pest animal science. Application to some grants are available to Society members only.

Membership entitles you to participate in all activities and to receive our quarterly newsletter Weedshine. It also entitles you to discounts on registration fees for the Queensland Weed Symposium, the Queensland Pest Animal Symposium and the Australasian Weeds Conference.

As a representative body on the Council of Australasian Weed Societies (CAWS), the peak body on weed management issues for Australia and New Zealand, the Society actively participates in state and national policy decisions.

Being a member of the WSQ means you will have an active voice on invasive species issues at a local, state and national level. It provides many forums for you to learn, participate, and share your knowledge. You can stay up-to-date with the latest pest animal and weed issues via our website, twitter or facebook pages, or download our WSQ App for easy identification of weeds on ground.

If you’re passionate about weeds and pest animals and their impact on our natural and agricultural systems, then we would love to hear from you. Join today, and help us make a difference.
